1946 — 2025

Retired USAF Major Carl Earnest Voss Jr., age 78, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Visitation was 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Biggers Funeral Home, Lake Worth, Texas 76135.

Carl was born Aug. 9, 1946, in Worland, Wyoming to Lena and Carl Voss Sr. He attended the University of Wyoming, earning his bachelor’s degree. After college, he was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force, where he retired with the rank of major.

He met the love of his life, Linda Tubbs, in 1971 while they were both Air Force officers stationed in San Antonio. They were married in 1973 in Fairplay.

Carl was a beloved PopPop to his five grandchildren, who were the center of his world: Joshua Wiedeman, Adrianna Wiedeman, Alaina Ledbetter and Jackson Ledbetter of Azle, and Hanna Voss of Norristown, Pennsylvania.

Carl found immense joy in spending time with all his grandchildren, creating countless memories they will cherish forever.

He maintained close relationships with many cherished friends he met with daily for coffee at McDonalds for over 30 years. He was an Azle softball staple where he never missed a single home game cheering from the stands.

Carl is preceded in death by his loving wife, Linda Voss; his parents, Lena and Carl Voss Sr.; his sisters, Peggy Dearson and Judith McMillen; his granddaughters; Ava Grace and Avery Dovie Ledbetter.

He is survived by his children, Amy Ledbetter and son-in-law, Joby of Azle; Keith Voss of Norristown, Pennsylvania; his brother, Steve Voss of Utah; and his five grandchildren.
