Residents living near Azle, Lake Worth and White Settlement — and some even farther away — could see dense black plumes of smoke for miles after grass and tires at Silver Creek Materials caught fire April 13.
Fort Worth firefighters were dispatched to the site at 2200 Silver Creek Road around 3 p.m. where they found a large pile of mulch, pallets and discarded materials that had ignited.
Silver Creek Materials takes in large quantities of yard waste and other discarded items daily from area residents to be recycled and used in compost.
