Coach Bo Maines speaks about historic Azle powerlifting season
The Azle boys powerlifting team had a year to remember. In an email to The Azle News, head powerlifting coach Bo Maines reflected on the accomplishments and success of his students during the season.
According to Maines, Azle High School student D’Lathian Young broke the state record in the squat with 830 pounds. He also broke every school record in the 308-pound weight class. Additional school record breakers this season were Cash Moore in the 198-pound weight class, Case Moore in the 220-pound weight class, Caden Lawson in the 148-pound weight class, Anthony York in the 123-pound weight class, Carsen Gandee in the 242-pound weight class and Joshua Guzman in the 165-pound weight class. Jacob Carlson, Dylan Maines and Diesel Fields were awarded the Elite All-State designation. Case Moore and Caden Lawson were placed on the Academic All-State First Team. Kasenn Thomas, Cash Moore and Leavy Owens were placed on the Academic All-State Second Team.
