On the morning of March 21, Azle High School celebrated a sendoff of three of its teams to their state competitions. The archery, criminal justice and boys powerlifting teams were met with a rally and performance by the school band as they were ushered through the mall of the school.
Powerlifters competed in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Division 1 at Taylor County Expo Center in Abilene March 22. The team ultimately did not place and Cayden Lawson was the group’s top scorer in 28th place in the 146 pound weight class. In a Facebook post coaches said they couldn’t be prouder of the boys. They reported this season the team broke multiple school records, one state record, and had lots of personal records.
The Texas State Tournament for the National Archery in the Schools Program will take place at the Cadence Bank Expo Center in Belton March 25-26.
