All seems to be in order with Azle’s finances.
Texas government code and city of Azle’s charter require a financial report and audit be conducted by independent certified public accountant each year. Azle required further auditing for last year after spending more than $750,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds. Mike Brooks of BrooksWatson & Company presented a summary of the report and the audit’s findings to the Azle City Council during a March 18 meeting. Brooks started his report by commending Azle Finance Director Stephen Barnes on his smooth transition.
“This year we had another transition in finance director,” Brooks said. “So, anytime that you have that, there’s always the risk that the audit’s not going to go well, and they did a great job with the transition. Stephen filled right in, and everything went very smoothly. So, we appreciate it.”
