Some of Azle’s best and brightest student scientists were recognized at a Feb. 24 meeting of Azle ISD’s board of trustees. First place winners of a recent district-wide science fair gathered to be recognized by the board and meeting attendees. The students were not afraid to ask the big questions, like “How do whirlpools form?” “How to build the perfect pinewood derby car?” and “Which toothpaste gets eggs the whitest?”
Prior to the big event, each elementary school held its own science fair, naming its own groups of winners. Then, top contenders from each school went head-to-head for the district title Jan. 15 at the administration building on Roe Street. Students presented their experiments and projects to a panel of judges: Tim Bevan, Bonnie Brown, Ashley Geary and Randa Goode, who volunteered their time to support Azle students.
“Their expertise and thoughtful feedback made a significant impact, and we couldn’t have done it without them,” Hoover Elementary Gifted and Talented Program teacher Rebecca Windham said.
