Jumping Jeters!

For 17-year-old Paisley Jeter, track and field isn’t just a sport, it’s a family tradition. During a March 7 invitational track meet at Boswell High School, Paisley launched herself into Azle High School record books, landing a jump of 17 feet, 10.25 inches, breaking Azle High School’s long jump previous record by a quarter inch. The record had stood strong for 23 years, set in 2002 by none other than her own mother, the former Amy Knight.

As a kid, Paisley started out playing volleyball and basketball but in the seventh grade decided to give the long jump and triple jump a shot. She immediately fell in love with the sport and made improvements in leaps and bounds.

Her competitive nature and playful teasing from her mom at home all but guaranteed that she would give jumping her full efforts.
