Electric co-op loses three directors

ALEDO — Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s board of directors is short three members after an eventful meeting, Feb. 20. District 5 Director Steve Harris and District 8 Director Jarrett Armstrong were removed from the board while District 1 Director Kevin Ingle resigned.

A press release issued by the co-op states Harris had been serving as an elected member of a government organization in violation of TCEC bylaws.

Harris, in addition to formerly being on the TCEC board, is also a board member for the Parker County Soil & Water Conservation Board.

The release also claims Armstrong repeatedly engaged in behavior and actions prohibited by the director conduct section of the bylaws, leading to multiple progressive suspensions and his dismissal.

It is unclear why Ingle resigned from the board.

The seats will remain vacant until new directors are elected in the 2025 election process later this year. The District 1 winner will serve the remaining one year of the current term. District 5 was already scheduled for 2025 with a three-year term to begin after the elec- tion. The District 8 winner will serve the remaining two years of the current term.

TCEC board members serve three-year terms, with three seats up for election each year. As a result of the District 1 and 8 changes, a total of five seats will be up for election in 2025.

The release states new updates are now in place to ensure board members and candidates are aware of, and meet all, qualifications during the campaign and while on the board. Full details are available at tcectexas.com/ director-elections.

Spence was named TCEC’s president and chief executive in March 2024, replacing Darryl Schriver who had been terminated due to claims of financial misconduct.
