Edwards faces challenger for AISD Place 7 in May election

AZLE — Lisa Rettew has challenged incumbent Jeff Edwards on the ballot for the Azle Independent School District board of trustees Place 7. With Feb. 14 the deadline to file as a candidate, this race is the only one set to be competitive for the school board this May. Place 5 incumbent Jeremy May and Place 6 incumbent Bill Lane will run unchallenged for this election.

Edwards has held his seat since 2007. He works as an engineer and driver for the Fort Worth Fire Department and has two sons who graduated from Azle High School.

Rettew is chief executive officer of Luther King Capital Management and has participated on numerous Fort Worth boards. Two of her children are Azle High School graduates, and she currently has grandchildren attending Azle schools. Her daughter, Meshia Neely, is currently an administrative assistant at Azle ISD.

The election will take place May 3.
